Excavation Laborer

Responsibilities:

• Grade Checking: Verify the elecation and slope of the site meets required design specifications.
• Valid Drivers License: Must hold a valid drivers license.
• Site Preparation: Cleaning and preparing the work area, including removing debris, rocks, and other obstructions. 
• Excavation: Digging trenches, backfilling excavations, and compacting earth using hand tools and machinery. 
• Material Handling: Loading and unloading materials, transporting equipment, and assisting with material movement. 
• Equipment Operation: Operating hand tools like shovels and power tools like air hammers and concrete saws, as well as larger machinery like backhoes and excavators. 
• Safety: Following safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), adhering to safety guidelines, and reporting hazards. 
• Assisting with Other Tasks: Assisting with various tasks as directed by supervisors, such as directing traffic, fueling equipment, and performing general construction tasks. 

Skills and Qualifications:

• Physical Stamina: Excavation work is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift heavy materials, dig trenches, and work in various weather conditions. 
• Safety Knowledge: Understanding and following safety procedures, including those outlined by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). 
• Tool and Equipment Operation: Familiarity with hand tools and power tools, as well as some experience operating construction machinery, which may require training. 
• Teamwork: Working effectively with other laborers and construction professionals. 
• Attention to Detail: Paying attention to detail when excavating, backfilling, and performing other tasks. 
• Reliability: Being punctual and reliable is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of construction projects.
